Lochlea Cask Strength is a series of annual, limited releases from Lochlea Distillery. The series consists of Single Malt Scotch Whisky bottled directly from the casks without the addition of water. This means the whisky retains its natural cask strength, delivering an intense and authentic tasting experience — almost like sampling straight from the warehouse. Each batch in the series is unique and composed from different casks, which contributes to the distinctive character of every release.
Batch 3 in the Cask Strength series offers a genuine whisky experience, with the whisky bottled directly from the casks without dilution. For this release, Lochlea has combined Oloroso Sherry Butts and Ex-Islay Peated Casks. This combination gives the whisky considerable depth and richness, along with a subtle smoky character. Batch 3 was developed to satisfy whisky enthusiasts who want to experience both intensity and finesse in their whisky.
Nose: Full fruit character with notes of ripe red fruits. In addition, there are nuances of light peat smoke and barbecue smoke, which add complexity to the nose. Palate: Offers pronounced notes of cherry and dark berries. These fruit notes are supported by brown sugar and the flavor of digestive biscuits, as well as gingerbread and barbecue smoke, all of which create a balanced and layered experience. Finish: The finish has a clear cask influence, combined with malt, tannins, and a subtle hint of spiced biscuits.
