The founder and creator, Christos Kakavogiannis, is the mind behind Lakrids Kompagniet. With great passion for traditional licorice craftsmanship, he has created his own version of Bornholm licorice — a soft licorice full of flavor, enriched with notes from local Bornholm ingredients.
Christos grew up with a deep love for handmade confectionery, inspired by his parents who own the Bornholm ice cream chain Chris & Mario. At Lakrids Kompagniet, everything is handmade from scratch using time-honored processes. The Bornholm licorice from Lakrids Kompagniet is a wholehearted tribute to both sweetness and Bornholm itself. With a passion for fine treats and a strong sense of quality — hallmarks of the island’s local food culture — this Bornholm licorice is a unique union of taste and luxury.
The licorice is made through a long cooking process, intensifying its flavor so that even a single piece delivers a full-bodied taste. Everything is handmade following Christos’ own secret recipe based on old traditions, stirred by hand throughout the cooking. The licorice is shaped on the family’s authentic machine, which Christos remembers from his childhood and which now continues into the hands of the next generation.
