“Celtic Whisky Destillery”- France – Peated Single Malt Whisky
Kornog Whiskey 46% Peated Single Malt Whisky, is one of the three pillars on which “The Celtic Whiskey Distillery” stands. The other two are Glann Ar Mor Single Malt and Gwalarn Blended Whisky. Kornog has an intensely smoky and peaty nose. There is about 50PPM (Phenols per million) and it is aged 100% in American bourbon casks. There is plenty of peaty taste in the mouth, where there are also notes of ginger and white pepper. It is an intense whiskey which has an incredibly long finish. France has a warmer climate than Scotland and one has higher evaporation and angels share respectively. Therefore, in Scottish eyes, it is relatively young whiskey, but of incredibly high quality. The interaction with the cask is faster in the heat and therefore an incredibly intense and delicious whiskey is obtained. The single malt whiskeys are between 3 and 6 years old and are bottled when they are ready. Best enjoyed neat, or with a few drops of water.
