Aroma of herbs and subtle, smoky impressions, yellow stone fruit and a bit of banana. Mineral in expression, intense and full-bodied. A complex wine with enormous tension.
About Juliusspital-Weingut
Juliusspital Weingut, which is part of a non-profit foundation, has more than 430 years of history and wine experience behind it. The Juliusspital itself is actually a hospital, where the winegrowing and associated forestry and agricultural operations provide a foundation for running the hospital – somewhat in the style of the Hospices de Beaune in Burgundy. Juliusspital was founded in 1576 and today, with its 170 ha of vineyards, is not only one of the best producers in Franconia, but also one of Germany’s largest and most important vineyard owners. The house is located on some of the area’s best land, where over the centuries, e.g. has planted the famous single vineyards such as Würzburger Stein and Julius-Echterberg.
Sustainable wines from Germany
Juliusspital Weingut takes responsibility for the environment, and therefore all vineyards are cultivated as naturally as possible: 10 ha are cultivated biodynamically, but the entire estate is cultivated according to Sustainable Winegrowing methods. Mainly white wines are produced at a particularly high level. The style is crisp, powerful and mineral with a hint of smoke – very classic Franconian wine, but the different soil conditions and microclimates of the fields give each individual wine a very special personality.
