Franca Contea – Brut Rosé is an elegant Franciacorta Rosé (metodo classico) from Lombardy—a sparkling wine with a Champagne-like feel, combining fruit, freshness, and gently bready notes in a dry, food-friendly style. The rosé expression is built around Pinot Nero (bringing colour, red-berry fruit, and structure), often alongside Chardonnay(adding freshness and precision). The result is a rosé with both finesse and clear character.
The producer
Franca Contea is based in Adro, in the heart of Franciacorta. The house philosophy focuses on preserving grape purity and fresh fruit character—among other things by using vacuum pressing (unusual in the region) to press grapes gently and minimise oxidation. They highlight a balance between tradition and modern technique, and the style is typically clean, precise, and structured, rather than sweet or overly fruity.
Flavour profile
Colour: pale salmon/“onion skin” with a fine mousse. Nose: delicate yet layered, with strawberry, raspberry, and redcurrant, often with floral hints of rose petal, plus a subtle toasted bread/brioche note from lees ageing. Palate: dry and fresh, showing red-berry fruit, lively acidity, and a distinct saline/mineral edge that adds tension. The structure feels mature and well-built—crisp and food-friendly rather than sweet. Finish: clean and persistent, lingering with berries, a touch of toast, and a fresh, dry close.
Serving tips
Serve well chilled at around 8–10 °C, ideally in a white-wine glass (not too narrow) to show the aromas. It’s even better if you give it 2–3 minutes in the glass before the first sip.
Food pairing
Perfect as an aperitif, and even better with food:
seafood and raw/lightly cooked fish,
smoked fish dishes,
charcuterie and lighter meats,
tarts/pies, egg and vegetable dishes,
and tomato-based dishes where the rosé’s acidity and structure really shine.
