Espero Dos Continentes is a smooth, elegant and highly approachable rum from the Ron Espero range, created to highlight how Caribbean ageing can gain extra depth through European cask traditions. The name Dos Continentes refers to that meeting of two continents—where origin, wood and secondary maturation come together in a rounded, harmonious style.
The rum is a blend of carefully selected aged rums from Barbados, distilled from molasses. What truly defines Dos Continentes is its triple maturation, built in layers: first 6 years in ex-bourbon casks at origin, followed by a further 4 years in a solera system, drawing character from both ex-sherry casks and ex-Banyuls casks (a sweet French fortified wine). The result combines bourbon-driven vanilla and toffee with sherry-like nutty depth and dried fruit, while Banyuls adds a subtle vinous, dark-fruited elegance.
In the glass it’s rich yet balanced, often showing notes of tropical fruit, raisins/sultanas, vanilla, caramel/toffee, toasted nuts, and gentle warming spice. Enjoy it neat, with a single ice cube, or in more refined rum cocktails where you want real cask-driven complexity.
