Errazuriz MAX – Reserva Malbec 2020 75 cl.

Vina Errazuriz

Plenty of fresh red fruit, spices, and floral notes in both taste and aroma. Add to that soft hints of baked goods in a fresh and juicy wine with good structure and fine-grained tannins.

The MAX series is named in honor of Errazuriz’s founder, Don Maximiano Errázuriz, and is intended to represent the maximum potential of each grape variety in Chile. The wines come from the best terroirs in the Aconcagua Valley and other renowned valleys in Chile.

These are wines that stand out for their finesse, elegance, and freshness—wines that are a true reflection of the terroir from which they originate.

Mad & Monopolet
Who doesn’t love a great Malbec with plenty of body, spice, and crispness? The aroma reveals violets, cherries, blackcurrants, plums, oak, cedarwood, smoke, and sweet spices. On the palate, it is undoubtedly full-bodied, yet it doesn’t overwhelm, as it is balanced by gentle tannins and a good, tangy finish. Pair it with spiced slow-cooked dishes or a delicious homemade pizza.

This Malbec opens with notes of dark berries, blackcurrants, and a hint of smoke. The nose is somewhat restrained at first, but on the palate, it reveals a light fruitiness with dark berries, blackberries, and some oak. The wine boasts a great fruit concentration and relatively high acidity, ensuring juiciness. It has a lovely mineral freshness and noticeable yet pleasant tannins. A dark and somewhat dense wine that, while slightly closed on the nose, delivers classic Chilean fruitiness, cool minerality, and excellent structure on the palate. A very enjoyable wine and a great companion to grilled steaks.

Viña Errázuriz – Perhaps South America’s Finest Winery
Since 1870, Viña Errázuriz has been at the forefront of Chilean winemaking, founded by the visionary Don Maximiano Errázuriz in the Aconcagua Valley. Here, family heritage, innovation, and sustainability come together to create wines that delight wine lovers worldwide. While most Chilean vineyards were still being established near Santiago, Don Maximiano Errázuriz looked further north. After a two-day, 100 km horseback journey, he discovered the Aconcagua Valley. There, he declared, “From the best soil, the best wine will come.” This philosophy remains alive more than 150 years later.

Chile made history in 2004 when Viña Errázuriz stood out in a now-famous blind tasting, competing against some of the most prestigious wines from Italy and France. Don Maximiano Founder’s Reserve and KAI secured top rankings. This milestone was followed by a series of 22 international tastings, demonstrating the consistency and outstanding quality of Chilean wine on the global stage.

At Viña Errázuriz, a wide range of grape varieties is cultivated, each carefully selected to express the unique terroir. From powerful Cabernet Sauvignon, elegant Pinot Noir, and full-bodied Shiraz to complex Malbec and the distinctive Chilean signature grape, Carmenere, their red wines showcase remarkable depth and character.

White wines like fresh Sauvignon Blanc and harmonious Chardonnay highlight the winery’s ability to produce both vibrancy and finesse. This versatility has cemented Viña Errázuriz’s reputation as one of the world’s most respected wine producers.

A Vision for the Future
Today, the winery is owned and led by Eduardo Chadwick, a passionate ambassador for Chilean wine who has spent decades traveling the world to promote Chilean wines as among the finest globally. As the fifth generation, Eduardo Chadwick continues the family legacy with his four daughters—Magdalena, María José, Alejandra, and María Eugenia—who represent the sixth generation. Together, the family works with a strong vision for the future, where sustainable development remains the cornerstone of preserving Viña Errázuriz’s position as a global benchmark for quality and innovation.
