Drumshanbo Gunpowder Irish Gin With Italian Fig & Laurel 70 cl 43%
Flavoured Gin – Ireland
Drumshanbo Gunpowder Italian Fig & Laurel Irish Gin is a special edition from Ireland where the classic Gunpowder style meets a distinctly Mediterranean-inspired twist. The base is a juniper-led, fresh and aromatic gin, layered with extra depth from gunpowder tea (green tea) and a gently spicy herbal character. In this expression, Italian fig and laurel (bay leaf) take the spotlight — a pairing that brings both rounded fruitiness and an elegant, herbal “dryness”.
Nose & palate: Expect a clear yet well-balanced juniper core, bright citrus and a subtle tea note in the background. Fig adds a soft, sun-ripened sweetness and an almost velvety texture, while laurel/bay leaf contributes an aromatic, herbal and lightly spicy nuance reminiscent of Mediterranean herbs. The result feels complex yet very approachable — fruity, herbal, with a long, clean finish.
Serving suggestions:
Gin & Tonic: plenty of ice, a premium tonic, and a lemon zest or a sprig of rosemary/thyme to highlight the herbal notes.
Negroni twist: fig and bay leaf bring a warm, “Italian-style” spiced character that pairs beautifully with bitterness.
Martini: a drier serve where the laurel note becomes especially clear and elegant.
Producer: The gin is made by The Shed Distillery in Drumshanbo (County Leitrim, Ireland), founded by PJ Rigney. The distillery is known for its “curious mind” approach: small-batch copper pot distillation and a strong focus on botanicals sourced from around the world. This edition was created in collaboration with Italian top bartender and mixologist Bruno Vanzan, designed as a bridge between Gunpowder’s signature profile (tea, citrus, and oriental botanicals) and a more Mediterranean flavour direction driven by fig and herbs.
