Dictador Jerarquia Borbón 1991 29 Years 70 cl. 41%
Colombian Aged Rum
Dictador Jerarquia Rum Borbon 1991, 41% is a 29-year-old, cask-aged rum, distilled in 1991. Jerarquia means hierarchy in Spanish, and refers to a collection of very unique casks owned by the Parra family, from the top shelf – or the top of the hierarchy. Every single dish in the collection has been given its own completely unique taste, and this is the first time they have been released at Dictador. All the rooms in the Jerarquia series are distilled and produced in the heart of Columbia, at a now closed distillery, which is why no more can be made. Each cask reflects the patience and finesse that time brings when making rum. A phenomenal piece of work.
This rum is aged in American oak and has a bourbon cask finish. On the nose there are notes of new leather, lavender and thyme as well as a hint of old library. There are toffee notes, popcorn and buttered toast. A charming nose. In the mouth you find fruity, tropical notes of pineapple and mango, which are backed by dark chocolate with a hint of sea salt. Beautiful tones of charcuterie, figs and nuts.
There is really a lot going on, and the taste is surging forward. The finish is followed by notes of mint tea, oak and vanilla in a nice balance. The aftertaste really lasts a long time. A really nice glass of rum.
Dictador is a Colombian rum producer whose strong roots date back to 1913, when the company was founded under the name Destilería Colombiana by Don Julio Aango y Parra.
Dictador is located in Cartagena in northern Colombia, facing the Caribbean Sea. Through its many years of operation, the house has continually refined its production, its recipes and its storage methods, and today Dictador belongs among the elite of quality producers in both rum and gin.
The secret behind the unique products from Dictador lies in the Parra family (Hernan Parra), who are the 3rd generation of master blenders at Dictador. For the Parra family, rum is not just rum, but an art form that is continuously developed and improved. It’s art in a bottle. Try it yourself and experience the Colombian treasure in liquid form.
