DICTADOR TWO MASTERS RUM 42% Despagne 1979 is produced in a collaboration between Thibault Despagne, Winemaker at Despagne and Hernan Parra, Master Blender at Dictador.
The rum is aged primarily at Dictador in Columbia, but also at Despagne, where the rum has been aged in a lightly re-charred Selmer Barrel for 34 months. A total of 257 bottles have been produced, numbered 1-257.
On the nose there are notes of figs drizzled with manuka honey, pollen, hints of oak charcoal as well as toffee pudding and delicious dates. Tones of fresh peaches lift the rum nicely and provide good balance together with the honey notes. In the mouth, there are spicy oak notes and a hint of grapes, which almost ends in a cola-like character. The rum also offers a bit of allspice and red cherry, which gives a wonderful taste and a nice, rounded finish. The aftertaste rounds off with shades of cherry, coca nuts and a fine, well-balanced finish.
A really nice and well-composed rum. Unfortunately, we have only received very few bottles for Denmark.
Dictador is a Colombian rum producer whose strong roots date back to 1913, when the company was founded under the name DestilerĂa Colombiana by Don Julio Aango y Parra.
Dictador is located in Cartagena in northern Colombia, facing the Caribbean Sea. Through its many years of operation, the house has continually refined its production, its recipes and its storage methods, and today Dictador belongs among the elite of quality producers in both rum and gin.
The secret behind the unique products from Dictador lies in the Parra family (Hernan Parra), who are the 3rd generation of master blenders at Dictador. For the Parra family, rum is not just rum, but an art form that is continuously developed and improved. It’s art in a bottle. Try it yourself and experience the Colombian treasure in liquid form.
