CDI West Indies Blend 8 Years Old is a rounded, elegant, and well-balanced rum with a classic Caribbean profile and clear cask maturity. It is a blend that brings together rums from several origins in a style that feels soft yet expressive, with a fine balance of fruit, spice, and lighter molasses notes. The character is approachable without being simple, making it a strong choice for anyone looking for a mature and harmonious rum with natural elegance.
How it tastes The nose is delicate yet aromatic, showing notes of fermented fruit, rock candy, honey, peach, and gentle sweet spices. On the palate, it opens with spicy and honeyed tones before moving into rock candy, burnt molasses, vanilla bean, rhubarb, and liquorice. The finish is soft and well integrated, combining fruity eau-de-vie notes with a delicate woody touch.
How and by whom it is produced This is an 8-year-old blend with no added sugar, colouring, or flavourings. It is aged in American oak ex-bourbon casks and combines rums from Barbados, the Dominican Republic, Panama, and Guyana. According to the producer, Barbados contributes a touch of pot still rum, while the other origins provide the column still component. It is bottled by Compagnie des Indes, a French independent bottler founded in 2015 by Florent Beuchet, focused on selecting rums from different origins and refining them in France.
