CDI – Latino 4 Years Old Rum Ex-Bourbon Casks 70 cl. 40%
Venezuel Aged Rum
CDI Latino 4 Years Old Rum Ex-Bourbon Casks is a soft, rounded, and approachable Venezuelan rum with clear cask influence and elegant sweetness. After four years of tropical ageing in American ex-bourbon casks, it develops a silky and generous style where vanilla, praline, and delicate wood notes meet hints of toasted almond, coconut, and caramelised butter toffee. This is a rum that works just as well neat as it does in quality cocktails, making it an excellent choice for anyone looking for a classic Latin American rum profile with balance, warmth, and gentle spice.
How it tastes The nose is rounded and inviting, with notes of vanilla, praline, and refined oak. On the palate, it is full yet soft, with a silky texture where toasted notes, almond, coconut, salted butter caramel, and vanilla wood create a balanced and approachable finish.
How and by whom it is produced This rum comes from DestilerĂa Sofa in Venezuela, described as the country’s oldest family-owned distillery. It is made from molasses, column distilled, and aged for four years in American ex-bourbon casks under tropical conditions. Compagnie des Indes, the company behind the bottling, is a French independent bottler founded in 2015 by Florent Beuchet, specialising in selecting and refining rum in France.
Other essential information The bottle size is 70 cl and the alcohol strength is 40% ABV. One important technical detail is that the producer’s technical sheet states an addition of 15 g/L of sugar cane syrup. The same sheet also notes that the rum is bottled in France without chill filtration. The producer further highlights that it is well suited both for sipping neat and for use in cocktails.
