Blandy’s Madeira – Harvest 2016 Colheita Malmsey is a vintage-dated Madeira in the most generous, dessert-friendly style: Malmsey (Malvasia). It delivers the classic Madeira combination of rich sweetness and bright, lively acidity, making it feel indulgent and luxurious without becoming heavy.
On the nose you’ll often find burnt sugar, caramel and butterscotch, alongside dried fruits (figs, dates, raisins), orange peel, toasted nuts, and sometimes a hint of coffee/cocoa. The palate is smooth and concentrated with clear sweetness, beautifully balanced by Madeira’s fresh acidity and the gently nutty, spicy complexity built through cask ageing. The finish is long, warm and elegant, with a refined “toasted” note that lingers.
Serving & food pairing
Serve lightly chilled, around 12–14°C (slightly cooler if you want to emphasise freshness).
Excellent with blue cheese, chocolate desserts, nuts, caramel/toffee-based desserts, or simply as an after-dinner drink.
A big bonus with Madeira: it’s very stable—once opened, a bottle can often keep well for a long time if stored cool and dark.
