The Glenallachie Sinteis Part 2 Virgin Oak & Oloroso 2015 70 cl. 58,2%
Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky
The GlenAllachie Distillery, located in the heart of Speyside near Aberlour, was founded in 1967 and designed by the renowned architect William Delmé-Evans. Over the years, the distillery changed ownership several times, but in 2017 a new chapter began when whisky legend Billy Walker, together with Trisha Savage and Graham Stevenson, took over. Since then, the focus has been on craftsmanship, quality, and innovative cask management, quickly establishing GlenAllachie as one of Scotland’s most exciting distilleries.
The Sinteis series is a celebration of the fusion of cask types, achieving a synthesis of complementary characteristics. The word “Sinteis” comes from Scottish Gaelic and means synthesis. Part II, released in 2025, combines maturation in Scottish virgin oak with classic Oloroso sherry casks. The result is a single malt that unites freshness, spice, and structure from virgin oak with the depth, fruitiness, and sweetness of sherry wood.
This whisky was distilled in 2015 and bottled at around nine years of age. It is presented at cask strength of 58.2% ABV, unchill-filtered, and with natural colour – ensuring that the spirit is experienced in its purest form.
On the nose, it reveals rich aromas of mocha, honeycomb, sun-dried red berries, and cinnamon, with touches of roasted lemon zest and dark muscovado sugar. The palate is full-bodied yet elegant, offering layers of heather honey, fresh citrus, and warming baking spices. Notes of ginger snaps and poached orchard fruits follow, leading to a creamy vanilla and toasted oak finale. The finish is long and lingering, with mocha and vanilla buttercream leaving a lasting impression.
The GlenAllachie Sinteis Part II is a prime example of the distillery’s ambition to craft single malts of character, shaped by expert cask selection and natural complexity. The combination of virgin oak and Oloroso sherry results in a whisky that is intense, deep, and refreshingly vibrant – a rewarding experience for both seasoned enthusiasts and curious newcomers.
