Planteray Rum (formerly Plantation) is the rum house linked to Maison Ferrand in Cognac. They operate as a modern rum house rather than a single distillery: partnering with producers across multiple rum regions, selecting distillates and casks, then shaping a clear house style through blending and cask work. The overall profile is typically rounded, aromatic, and very bartender-friendly—equally suited to cocktails or casual sipping.
Original Dark is their classic dark rum, built in a smooth, spiced, caramel-forward style. It’s designed to deliver “dark rum” character without harshness: plenty of molasses depth, brown sugar and vanilla, with cocoa/dark chocolate, coffee, and warm baking spices underneath. The palate feels full but easy to mix with, and the finish is warming with a clear oak-spice lift.
Serving and use
A great “house dark” for staples: Dark ’n’ Stormy, Cuba Libre, rum punches, and tiki builds.
In a Daiquiri it reads rounder and more caramel-toned than a light rum.
Also works on the rocks when you want a smooth, spiced dark rum with a balanced sweet-and-spice feel.
