Foursquare Penultimus (Mark XXX) is a 15-year-old Barbadian rum that marks the beginning of the end for the acclaimed Exceptional Cask Selection series. This penultimate release is a blend of rum distilled in both copper pot stills and column stills, and has undergone a two-part maturation: one component spent 15 years in ex-bourbon casks, while another was matured for 10 years in bourbon casks followed by 5 years in sweet Moscatel wine casks.

The result is a complex and intense rum bottled at 57 %, offering rich notes of dark chocolate, ripe pineapple and spiced caramel, finished with a fresh touch of lemon sorbet. As is always the case with Richard Seale’s craftsmanship, the rum is bottled entirely without added sugar or colouring, making it a pure and highly sought-after collector’s item for rum enthusiasts.

Foursquare Exceptional Cask Selection (ECS) is an exclusive and award-winning series of rums from Barbados that has achieved cult status among connoisseurs worldwide. The series is the passion project of Master Distiller and blender Richard Seale, who personally selects the most unique and rare casks from the distillery’s warehouses. All rum in the series is “Single Blended Rum”, meaning a blend of pot still and column still distillates from the same distillery. Nose
The nose is marked by dark chocolate, toasted coconut and dried fruits such as figs and dates, lifted by a fresh touch of lemon peel.

Palate
The mouthfeel is full-bodied and oily, with rich notes of ripe pineapple, caramel and warm baking spices, balanced by a gentle vinous sweetness.

Finish
The finish is long and complex, with a surprising and lively wave of lemon sorbet giving way to dry notes of oak and cocoa.
