Champagne Billecart Salmon – Mareuil-sur-Ay
With this superb Cuvée Louis, Billecart-Salmon once again cements its status as one of the true heavyweights of Champagne. Few producers manage to create such magnificent wines year after year. The grapes are harvested from some of the very finest sites in the entire Champagne region and come exclusively from Grand Cru villages in the Côte des Blancs—home to Champagne’s greatest Chardonnay. One third of the wine is aged in oak barrels, helping to give it a wonderfully creamy, powerful texture.
In the glass, it shows a beautiful golden colour with myriads of the finest bubbles that gently dance across the palate. The nose offers notes of citrus fruit and candied mandarins, ripe pear and pineapple. The palate strikes a graceful balance between fresh citrus, white almonds and brioche.
