Teeling Whiskey – Single Grain 13 Years Ex-Bordeaux Wine Cask 3 cl. (Tasting Sample) 50%
Non Chill Filtered Irish Whiskey
Teeling Single Grain 13 Years is a limited and innovative Irish single grain whiskey that showcases Teeling’s ambition to push the boundaries of Irish whiskey. The whiskey is made from a mash bill of around 95% corn and 5% malted barley, triple distilled and initially matured for about 9 years in ex-bourbon casks before receiving over 4 additional years of ageing in ex-Bordeaux red wine casks. It is bottled at 50% ABV, non-chill filtered and naturally coloured, giving you a pure and intense expression of grain and cask.
The result is a powerful yet elegant single grain where the sweet corn base meets vinous notes, red berries and fine tannins from the wine casks. This is a whiskey that sits right where “old meets new” – classic Irish smoothness combined with modern cask finishing and high strength.
Flavour profile
Appearance: Golden to light copper with a faint reddish hue and pronounced legs in the glass, reflecting both cask influence and strength.
Nose: Rosewater, ripe cherries, sun-ripened red berries and spicy cinnamon. There are also notes of dried cherries, floral tones, a hint of buttercream and gentle vanilla.
Palate: Fruity and creamy, full of summer fruits – strawberries, raspberries and berry compote – along with berry jam, vanilla custard, caramel and soft notes of apples and pears. Honey, light nougat and spices such as cinnamon and a touch of pepper add depth.
Finish: Medium to long, with warm wood notes, dry, elegant tannins from the red wine, spice, toasted oak and lingering vanilla and red berries.
