Daring Rye shows Teaninich pushing boundaries with rye at center stage. Using the distillery’s rare mash filter, the team crafted an exceptionally clean, spice-led spirit, matured eight years in American ex-bourbon casks and bottled at 60.3% for maximum drive. The nose opens bright and inviting: toffee and vanilla over clear rye spice—hints of clove, dill and fresh herbs—then warmer caramel and a touch of popcorn. The palate is creamy and precise: sweet toffee and vanilla meet rye-bread spice, nutmeg and a green, herbal thread; a light saline lift and peppermint bring freshness. The finish is medium and sharply spicy, with a dry echo of toasted coconut and a steady lingering warmth. The result is a modern, fearless bottling where rye’s character shines without heavy oak—lively, pure and surprisingly elegant.
Serving & pairing: Enjoy neat in a tulip glass; a few drops of water open the vanilla and green herbs. Excellent with aged hard cheeses, delicate seafood, salted almonds, grilled corn with butter and chili, or around 70% dark chocolate.
