Fanø Sophie Of Sønderho – Barrel Aged Imperial Stout Blend 50 cl. 13,6%

Fanø Bryghus – Denmark

The ship Sophie sailed for many years without incident but capsized in 1880 off the coast of Hanstholm during a violent storm, where four of the six crew members drowned. The first mate and the ship’s boy were trapped inside the overturned hull, which drifted towards the shore. For four days, they survived on syrup and coffee beans before being discovered by fishermen. The shipwreck drew great attention in the press and became the subject of both short stories and songs.
Sophie is a blend of two Imperial Stouts – one brewed with coffee, lactose, and aged in red wine casks, and another brewed purely from malt and matured in brandy casks. The combination gives the beer remarkable depth, strength, and mouthfeel.
