good to know
Aalborg Jule Akvavit is a tribute to the akvavit from the end of the 19th century. The alcohol strength is therefore exactly 47.4%, which was the standard for brandy in Denmark at the time.
HISTORY
Aalborg Jule Akvavit rests on old-time craftsmanship principles. That’s why it has its high strength, high cumin content and rustic taste. The recipe has been the same since the launch in December 1982, but the bottle and packaging have varied from Christmas to Christmas. The alcohol percentage is high and exactly at 47% vol. It corresponds to 8 degrees spendrup, which was the measuring unit for alcohol at the end of the 19th century.
NO. 42 – THE ORIGINAL CHRISTMAS AQUA WHITE
Every year, the decoration of Aalborg Yule Akvavit is something special. The messages of Christmas are perhaps more important than ever. Christmas and ikke mindest aquavitten bring us together in a beautiful tradition. We gather, look each other in the eye and toast. Neighborliness, presence and warmth spread. Hearts intertwine and Christmas brings our hearts into rhythm.
THE EXPERIENCE
Aalborg Jule Akvavit is made from the distillate of cumin, dill and coriander seeds. In scent and taste, it has a robust character of cumin with a fine aftertaste of orange, almond and citrus. A taste and quality impressed the judging panel at the International Wines and Spirits Contest (IWSC) – where this year’s Aalborg Jule Akvavit 2023 was honored with a nice gold medal and a whopping 95 points out of 100.
THE FOOD IT GOES WITH
Aalborg Jule Akvavit is suitable for almost all traditional Danish Christmas food, from marinated herring and salmon to roast pork, liver pâté and meatballs with sour. And so it’s perfect for a Christmas party. It can also be recommended to enjoy Aalborg Jule Akvavit as a drink in front of the fireplace on a cold winter’s evening.
The taste of Aalborg Christmas Akvavit is inspired by akvavit from the 19th century and has been exactly the same since 1982.
Every year the decoration on the bottle changes and the gift box died, and every three years the shape of the bottle also changes.
But the aqua white interior remains the same year after year.
