This is the wine package for those who love Chablis’ pure and refreshing style but want to find bottles where the quality feels greater than the price. Affordable Chablis brings together three expressions that show exactly why the region is so admired: crisp citrus, green apples, chalky minerality and the cool precision that makes Chablis just as natural as an aperitif as it is with fish, shellfish and lighter dishes. All three wines are made from chardonnay, and the package moves from direct and charming village Chablis to a more complex Héritage cuvée and on to Premier Cru level.
These wines were selected because together they offer an unusually clear picture of Chablis at several levels. Le Grand Couronne Chablis represents the most open and approachable style, with pure stainless steel vinification and classic citrus-driven freshness. Domaine Fourrey Héritage Le Vin d’Emile builds on that foundation with longer lees ageing, more breadth and added texture. Domaine Fourrey Chablis Premier Cru Côte de Lechet lifts the package with greater precision, depth and Premier Cru character from limestone-rich clay soils in one of Chablis’ finest sites. Together, they offer both variation and a clear common thread: minerality, balance and strong drinkability.
How it is produced: The grapes come from the Fourrey family’s parcels in Côte de Lechet, where they have around 3.5 hectares on clay-limestone soils. Jean-Luc Fourrey has led the estate since 1992, and the wine is vinified in stainless steel before being aged partly in stainless steel and partly in oak barrels of different ages, giving texture without dominating the fruit. The estate is family-owned, located in Milly near Chablis, and works with a clear focus on terroir and environmental care. How it tastes: This is the most refined wine in the package, with notes of apple, lemon, fresh almonds, flint and chalky minerality. The style is elegant rather than powerful, with fresh acidity, fine length and a lightly creamy undertone. What it pairs with: Especially good with fish, particularly cod or turbot, as well as veal or lighter poultry dishes, and it works beautifully with buttery yet balanced sauces such as beurre blanc or hollandaise.
How it is produced: Le Vin d’Emile is a special cuvée from Domaine Fourrey, named after the son Emile. Unlike the estate’s regular Chablis, it is vinified and aged entirely in stainless steel but remains 18 months sur lie, meaning a longer time on the lees, which gives greater depth and more volume. Fourrey works without herbicides, uses organic fertilisation and holds HVE certification, which reinforces the artisanal feel of the wine. How it tastes: Here, Chablis becomes more generous and expressive without losing its freshness. The palate offers dry citrus, green apples and minerality, but also a creamier, broader texture and nuances that can lean towards hay, apricot, peach and honeysuckle. What it pairs with: A highly versatile food wine for shellfish, fish, lighter meat dishes and cheese, especially when you want a little more body and width in the glass than in a very straight and lean basic Chablis.
How it is produced: Le Grand Couronne is the most immediate and affordable Chablis in the package. The wine is raised entirely in stainless steel and gains extra complexity through contact with fine lees, keeping the expression pure, fresh and ready to drink without any oak influence. How it tastes: The palate is dry and light to medium-bodied, with slender citrus fruit, preserved lemon, green apples and a distinctly chalky, mineral finish. It is a wine that wins through its clarity, fresh acidity and open charm. What it pairs with: Perfect as an aperitif, but even better with classic Chablis dishes such as shellfish, white fish, sushi, goat’s cheese and lighter dishes where freshness and salinity are allowed to take centre stage.
