Gevrey-Chambertin is the northernmost of the major communes in the C\u00f4te de Nuits, with 26 Premier Crus and 8 Grands Crus. Louis Jadot\u2019s Gevrey-Chambertin wines are produced from grapes grown on the extension of the slopes with the Grands Crus and Premier Crus. These vineyards vary considerably in quality, and often the producer\u2019s name is more important to note here than anywhere else in Burgundy. Louis Jadot\u2019s wines are, of course, of very high quality, and the grapes are quality-controlled for each vintage. The must ferments for 3\u20134 weeks and is then aged in oak barrels for 12\u201315 months. Jadot\u2019s Gevrey-Chambertin represents the commune\u2019s typical characteristics: deep in colour, a multifaceted symphony of berries and bouquet solely of red fruit, tannin, structure, and a long, persistent finish.

\nLouis Jadot is among Burgundy\u2019s most historic and prestigious wine producers of both white and red wines. Louis Henri Denis Jadot came to Beaune from Belgium in the late 18th century and purchased several vineyards, including the legendary monopole \u201cBeaune 1er Cru Clos des Ursules,\u201d which remains one of the house\u2019s signature wines to this day. Maison Louis Jadot was founded in 1859. The estate owns a total of 150 hectares of vineyards, 70 of which are located in the C\u00f4te d\u2019Or. Today, some mistakenly regard Louis Jadot as a n\u00e9gociant buying grapes from local growers, but up to 70% of the wines come from the estate\u2019s own vineyards. The fact that Louis Jadot is now considered one of the most highly respected wine producers in Burgundy is largely due to the renowned and charismatic winemaker Jacques Lardi\u00e8re, who crafted and shaped the wines from 1970 until his retirement in 2012. He was succeeded by Fr\u00e9d\u00e9ric Barnier, who has taken on the legacy with great respect for Lardi\u00e8re\u2019s work.
