Vineyard cultivation:
\nCh\u00e2teau Hosanna, a jewel-like vineyard of just 4.5 hectares, lies in the heart of Pomerol’s central plateau. The winery has a long and rich history before it was bought by Ets. Jean-Pierre Moueix in 1999, Hosanna was known as Ch\u00e2teau Certan Giraud, considered one of Pomerol’s leading crus since the 1950s. Only the highest plateau plots of his
\nprevious incarnations were selected to form Ch\u00e2teau Hosianna. The vineyard enjoys a red gravel terroir and laughs at the “crasse de fer”, which is known for producing wines of great elegance, complexity and power.<\/p>\n
Vinification:
\nIn thermoregulated concrete and stainless steel vats: a gentle and controlled maceration and extraction.
\n16-18 months in French oak barrels (50% new).<\/p>\n
Tasting notes:
\nThe bouquet’s trademark, lovely Pomerol with a perfume of fragrant spices, plum fruit, green tobacco and subtle dried flowers. The palate has a rich, plummy fruit weight with a savory and spicy herbaceous depth; The middle palate is clean and mineral and is rounded off with a touch of velvety tannin. This Bordeaux is a structured, mid-weight beauty.<\/p>\n

Ch\u00e2teau Hosanna is thus a newcomer in an area that is packed with world-class producers and a long history. Nevertheless, the castle got off to a great start and impressed the reviewers from day one. – not least the perhaps most important, namely Robert Parker and James Suckling, who gave the first year respectively 96 and 95 points. Then you’re just in business, and ever since you’ve made your mark as an important part of Pomerol. Old Cabernet Franc vines, a significant proportion of which date back to 1956, contribute a unique complexity. The grapes are harvested by hand and all grapes are sorted twice manually and optically. The soil has a characteristic, iron-rich subsoil called crasse de fer in French – and for which Pomerol is famous.
