Planteray XO 20th Anniversary is an exclusive and striking rum, created to celebrate Alexandre Gabriel\u2019s 20-year anniversary as master blender at Maison Ferrand. This is a true Barbados masterpiece, distilled in both column and pot stills, and composed from carefully selected casks that have matured for up to 15 years in tropical conditions.<\/p>\n
After its first ageing in bourbon barrels in the Caribbean, the rum is shipped to Cognac in France, where it undergoes an additional maturation in French oak casks previously used for cognac. This \u201cdouble ageing\u201d approach is what gives Planteray XO its deep complexity and beautifully rounded character.<\/p>\n
The nose opens with rich notes of vanilla, toasted coconut, and ripe tropical fruits such as mango and banana. Beneath that you\u2019ll find warming spices, lightly toasted nuts, and hints of cocoa and toffee.<\/p>\n
On the palate it is full-bodied, silky-smooth, and generously sweet, with clear flavours of caramelised sugar, banana chips, coconut flakes, and dark chocolate. The rum\u2019s sweeter profile\u2014around 20 grams of sugar per litre\u2014delivers a rounded, pleasing mouthfeel without losing structure.<\/p>\n
