Pusser’s British Navy Rum 15 years, is a rum that is inspired by the rum that all naval personnel received in their daily ration up to 31 July 1970 (known as Black Tot Day).<\/p>\n
This version of is a reissue of Pusser’s 15 Red label, now in a new bottle. This rum is from Guyana (Demerara) and has been barrel aged for at least 15 years, and is watered down to 40%.<\/p>\n
The rum has a clear but dark copper color.<\/p>\n
“Drinking Nelson’s Blood”<\/p>\n
One of the stories tells that Admiral Nelson, who died in the Caribbean, is put in a barrel of rum to last him all the way home, where he can have a grand funeral in Trefalger Square.<\/p>\n
On board the ships, sailors did everything to get hold of the good rum. They often went on night trips, where they made holes in barrels and found a small stopper, so that they could fetch rum night after night … However, no one knew in which barrel Nelsons was put, so on arrival in London, bar no better than that Nelson’s cask was empty of rum, only the body remained!<\/p>\n
That way, sailors had “Drunk Nelson’s Blood” all the way home!<\/p>\n
