Here’s a piece of flowing wine history. Kopke’s colheita wines always show elevated balance and have no intrusive sweetness, but are always very complex with a perfectly balanced acidity. Over 60 years ago, this wine was entered into lagares and after vinification was placed on 550-650 liter old, neutral oak barrels in Vila Nova de Gaia, where it has now, after being cared for and cared for for more than 6 decades, been bottled and released for sale. Such a rarity will always be a costly affair, but if you have to throw a large sum of money after a wine, this is not the worst place to throw it away.<\/p>\n
The scent in Kopke Colheita 1957 has enormous intensity with smoke, nuts, and still a little powdered sugar, which is structurally held together by the alcohol and the volatile acid. The taste has an absolutely terrific intensity in elevated balance and an aftertaste that can be enjoyed for several minutes after tasting the wine. The youthful feeling of sweetness is largely gone and the volatile acid has instead taken the driver’s seat with a little camphor and medicinal notes.<\/p>\n
This is an experience in itself – it would be a shame to serve something for such a wine, as no food makes the wine better.<\/p>\n
And remember for God’s sake not to serve it in “grandma’s glass” – a good white wine glass is used for this.<\/p>\n
