It was selected from Gordon &amp; MacPhail\u2019s impressive warehouses for <strong data-start=\"1662\" data-end=\"1707\">Juul\u2019s Vin og Spiritus\u2019 100th anniversary<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1710\" data-end=\"2225\"><strong data-start=\"1710\" data-end=\"1735\">Strathisla Distillery<\/strong>, located on the outskirts of Keith, is one of Scotland\u2019s most beautiful distilleries and is often used as the backdrop for romantic Scottish advertising imagery. In fact, the distillery came close to becoming part of Gordon &amp; MacPhail back in the early 1950s. The Urquhart family had long wished to own a distillery of their own, but lost the bidding to Chivas Brothers. It was not until 1993 that the family\u2019s dream was realised with the acquisition of <strong data-start=\"2190\" data-end=\"2214\">Benromach Distillery<\/strong> in Forres.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2227\" data-end=\"2377\">This whisky was distilled in 2009 and matured for 17 years in a <strong data-start=\"2291\" data-end=\"2321\">first-fill sherry hogshead<\/strong>. It is, of course, bottled at cask strength: <strong data-start=\"2367\" data-end=\"2376\">57.2%<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2379\" data-end=\"2879\"><strong data-start=\"2379\" data-end=\"2390\">Colour:<\/strong> Dark amber \u2013 almost mahogany.<br data-start=\"2420\" data-end=\"2423\" \/><strong data-start=\"2423\" data-end=\"2432\">Nose:<\/strong> Candied orange and soft English fruitcake coated in dark chocolate bring to mind the old S. Juul Vinhandel &amp; Bodega, filled with wonderful colonial goods in the middle of a busy December Christmas trade.<br data-start=\"2636\" data-end=\"2639\" \/><strong data-start=\"2639\" data-end=\"2650\">Palate:<\/strong> The palate is packed with rich syrup caramel, cherry and raspberry jam, and cocoa powder.
