There is plenty of bacon and smoke, dark berries, tobacco, and leather here \u2013 and while the intensity is turned all the way up, it still shows a level of refinement rarely found in the New World. The grapes come from Terra Blanca\u2019s estate vineyard in <strong data-start=\"1363\" data-end=\"1379\">Red Mountain<\/strong>. The vines are propagated from Syrah cuttings imported directly from the Northern Rh\u00f4ne. The wine is aged for 18\u201332 months in French oak barrels.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1527\" data-end=\"1898\"><strong data-start=\"1527\" data-end=\"1538\">Colour:<\/strong> Deep dark purple.<br data-start=\"1556\" data-end=\"1559\" \/><strong data-start=\"1559\" data-end=\"1568\">Nose:<\/strong> An explosion of blueberry, blackberry, smoke, pine needles, bacon, clove, and pepper.<br data-start=\"1654\" data-end=\"1657\" \/><strong data-start=\"1657\" data-end=\"1668\">Palate:<\/strong> Dense and powerful, yet sophisticated and supported by a fine acidity. It clearly shows French inspiration combined with a full-bodied and soft American personality. The nuances from the nose carry through into the long finish.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1900\" data-end=\"2036\"><strong data-start=\"1900\" data-end=\"1923\">Serving suggestion:<\/strong> Enjoy it slightly chilled, and give it plenty of time in a decanter if drunk young.
