The microclimate around the Sprinzenberg vineyard, with its large temperature differences between day and night, creates a long growing season and adds vibrant acidity to the wine.
Ried Sprinzenberg is located right next to the estate in Oberfucha on a bedrock of granulite, with weathered granulite mixed with a little sand in the topsoil.<\/p>\n
Quality does not happen by chance but is achieved through hard work, knowledge and skill. At Geyerhof, almost every process is carried out manually, and they are organic winegrowers at heart unlike anyone else we know.<\/p>\n
The grapes were harvested in mid-October after a long growing season, whole-cluster pressed and fermented in stainless steel with native yeast (pied de cuve), after which the wine remained in tank until May 2024 on its full lees until bottling.<\/p>\n
Riesling Sprinzenberg is a remarkably healthy, piercingly pure, linear Riesling with great precision and freshness. Aromatically, it shows cool stone fruit with a hint of phenolics and a touch of native yeast character, both of which add complexity and depth to the aromatic profile. This is a taut Riesling with disciplined body and good concentration, continuing into a long, harmonious, terroir-driven finish with crushed granite and floral freshness. Intense minerality is balanced by ripe fruit and a clear, fresh acidity that cuts through the wine like a laser.
In short, this is a wine you want to keep drinking, as the senses never seem to tire of it.<\/p>\n
Geyerhof Riesling Sprinzenberg is lovely on its own, but it is also highly versatile as a gastronomic partner: simply prepared fish dishes or a traditional pork dish in Alsatian style are just two of countless excellent pairings.
Whereas a delicate, dry German Riesling most often appeals as a summer wine, this, through its robust style, is more of an all-year wine.<\/p>\n
We recommend serving the wine at 10\u201313\u00b0C, though it can also be served directly from the refrigerator if its main purpose is to cool body and soul.<\/p>\n
If you prefer more mature nuances in your Riesling, it will easily keep for 7\u201310 years after the vintage.<\/p>\n
