Six months later, he transferred his entire stock of maturing casks to his Italian distributor, <strong data-start=\"3614\" data-end=\"3624\">Velier<\/strong>, led by <strong data-start=\"3633\" data-end=\"3649\">Luca Gargano<\/strong>, widely regarded as one of the world\u2019s leading rum experts.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3711\" data-end=\"4073\">This expression was aged in a cask that previously held red wine from <strong data-start=\"3781\" data-end=\"3790\">Wente<\/strong>, in California\u2019s <strong data-start=\"3808\" data-end=\"3828\">Livermore Valley<\/strong>. The result is an elegantly extroverted release: bright, radiant, and with an aromatic and flavour profile that occasionally steps into the realm of Scottish single malts\u2014ultimately serving to highlight an intensely fruity and floral character.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"4075\" data-end=\"4352\"><strong data-start=\"4075\" data-end=\"4084\">Nose:<\/strong> Powerful yet voluptuous. Nobly woody (oak staves), spicy (clove) and powdery (cocoa). It gradually reveals vanilla, resinous nuances and a mellow honeyed tone (acacia) that adds extra smoothness. With air, heady flowers (honeysuckle) and fresh fig permeate the glass.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"4354\" data-end=\"4372\"><strong data-start=\"4354\" data-end=\"4365\">Colour:<\/strong> Topaz.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"4374\" data-end=\"4610\"><strong data-start=\"4374\" data-end=\"4385\">Palate:<\/strong> Lively and taut. Peppery and fruity (pear, mirabelle plum), with a glimpse of lightly burnt cane sugar. The generous opening develops into delicious notes of cr\u00e8me br\u00fbl\u00e9e and rice pudding, alongside more mentholated accents.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"4612\" data-end=\"4983\"><strong data-start=\"4612\" data-end=\"4623\">Finish:<\/strong> Long and suave, evoking a Highland single malt in more ways than one\u2014tropical (grilled pineapple, candied mango), herbaceous (fresh-cut hay) and gently creamy (coconut). Cane sugar and cane syrup then lead into a lush, opulent register.
