Knorhoek Chenin Blanc is a characterful white wine from Simonsberg in Stellenbosch, made from old vines planted in 1980 on a single vineyard that today forms part of a certified heritage project. The vines grow in Oakleaf soils with decomposed granite and gravel, giving both concentration, freshness and a clear mineral backbone.<\/p>\n
The grapes are harvested from what the estate calls \u201cThe Gallery\u201d \u2013 a parcel where each vine looks almost like a small sculpture, and yields are naturally low. The wine is fermented and matured in a combination of large oak vats, concrete eggs, stainless steel tanks and 500-litre French oak barrels, typically for around 10 months before bottling and further bottle ageing. This builds texture and depth without making the wine heavy.<\/p>\n
Style and flavour profile<\/strong><\/p>\n Appearance: Clear, light golden with a greenish hue.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Nose: Juicy stone fruit such as peach and apricot, lemon\/lime, melon, green apple and white pear, often with a hint of pineapple and a light mineral note.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Palate: Medium-bodied and well structured, with ripe fruit, fresh acidity and a slightly creamy texture.
