Lucano Vermouth del Cavaliere 75 CL 18%

Bottega Originale – Lucano – Piemonte

Vermouth Del Cavaliere has been revived from the late 19th century spirit tradition of the Vena family. The idea behind the label’s graphic design comes from an old print from the early 1900s showing a knight after a long journey finally getting his prized reward: Lucano! The production of this old recipe started a few years after the famous amaro, was interrupted during the First World War, and never seen again until today.

Color: Purple.
Nose: An aroma with many layers of warm spices, wormwood and cherry – A bit of tutti frutti, perhaps.
Tasting notes: Big cherry sweetness fights for attention with the bitterness of wormwood.

Serving suggestions: Can be enjoyed neat, over ice with a slice of orange or in cocktails (e.g. Negroni or Manhattan)

Amaro Lucano first saw the light in 1894, when Pasquale Vena found the right combination of more than 30 different herbs in the back room of the town’s cookie bakery. As time went on, the bittersweet herbal liqueur became more and more popular, and in the 1950s production was ramped up to keep up with demand. The brand is still family-owned – today the 4th generation – and the liqueur is still made according to the secret recipe from the small bakery in Pisticci. In addition to amari, Lucano also produces sambucca, coffee liqueur and limoncello.
