L’ Aperitivo “Vermouth” – Martini & Rossi

MARTINI Bianco’s blend of herbs, flowers and white wines like Trebbiano creates a light, complex flavor called “Bianchissimo” or the whitest of the vanilla flowers.

Formerly known as bianchissimo (the whitest), Martini Bianco is a variety of sweetened dry vermouth – enriched and flavored wine – introduced in 1910. Although the exact recipe is a closely guarded secret, Martini Bianco is made from filtered white wine that is sweetened and infused with various plants that include vanilla flowers, spices, herbs, citrus peel, bark and roots.

This clear beverage is characterized by a layered combination of flavors and aromas that include spicy, floral, citrus and sweet vanilla. In Europe, Martini Bianco is usually enjoyed as an aperitif, preferably served nicely with ice cream and orange peel.

However, it can also work well mixed with soda, tonic water or juice as well as a good cocktail ingredient that preferably replaces sweet vermouth. Martini Bianco is produced by the Torino-based company Martini & Rossi, which has a range of vermouth styles, including the classic sweet red vermouth Martini Rosso.
