Tres Hombres Barbados 2007 captain’s choice is a molasses rum from Barbados, distilled in stills and columns. Richard Seale of the Foursquare distillery entrusted one of his brandy casks filled with rum to the sailors of the Tres Hombres. This cask travelled 5950 nautical miles before arriving in Amsterdam where it was bottled. Distilled in 2007, it was aged for 13 years in its country of origin. It was then dynamically aged during a 6 month crossing.
This ageing process increases the contact between the cask and the rum. It also allows for ideal oxygenation, and instills some iodine notes.
The artist who decorated the bottle is called Lynx Guimond. He designed the figurehead of the boat and carved the magnificent woodwork on board.
