Milbrandt Riesling 75 CL

Columbia Valley Washington – USA

Milbrandt Riesling Evergreen Vineyard is a fresh, slightly sweet white wine from the Columbia Valley in the northeast corner of Washington. The grapes come from the northern Evergreen Vineyard, which has quickly become known as one of Washington’s best fields for Riesling and Chardonnay, after Butch and Jerry Milbrandt began planting in 1998. The wine is made in an “off-dry” style and is not aged in cask, but rests for 4 months in stainless steel tanks.

Colour: Greenish golden.
Aroma: Nice aroma of peach, Granny Smith apples and lime zest.
Tasting notes: Mineral notes of wet stones mingle with apple, fresh acidity and a hint of sweetness.

Serving suggestions: A perfect wine for spicy dishes from Indian or Thai cuisine.

In 1997, Butch and Jerry Milbrandt planted their first vines in Eastern Washington, to the untrained eye a remote, windswept, high-altitude desert where only gorse and wind witches seem to thrive. But the Milbrandt family have been farmers for many generations, and they have been farming here since the mid-1950s. With the experience also came a conviction that the region’s moderate temperatures, low rainfall and sandy soil were ideal conditions for growing grapes. To help plant and establish the vineyards, they hired the highly respected vintner, James McFerran. After 8 years, during which Milbrandt had sold grapes to some of Washington’s most high-profile wineries, they hired their own winemaker and began making wine themselves from the best plots.
