Lagavulin’s The Ink of Legends Special Release is finished in Don Julio Añejo Tequila casks, bringing a unique dimension to the expression. This thick smoky single malt is etched with bright, vibrant herbs and juicy plums for an unforgettable finish.
The famous Lagavulin Distillery was founded in 1816 and the rich, smoky and elegant whiskeys produced there are a firm favorite among connoisseurs and collectors. With an unmistakably Islay style of maritime meets medicinal, Lagavulin is the peatiest of the southern Islay malts and is usually matured in ex-Bourbon casks, highlighting its uncompromising smoky, salty character.
Lagavulin is a classic in Diageo’s annual Special Release. You can always count on it – and you can always count on it selling out quickly! This year, however, everything is not the same – it has been given a tequila finish! Pretty wild. As always bottled at cask strength (56.4%).
Colour: Light golden.
Aroma: Big smoke, tropical fruit (mango) and citrus.
Tasting notes: Powerful, salty and fruity with a long, complex aftertaste.
