Glenkinchie 27 Year Old The Floral Treasure is the oldest whiskey in Diageo’s Special Release 2023. The whiskey has spent nearly three decades in a mixture of refill American & European Oak barrels and butts. An old, mellow lowlander that lives up to its name with lots of floral notes. It is bottled at cask strength: 58.3%, so it is no lead violet!
Colour: Golden.
Scent: A delicate scent of apple grove in bloom, almonds, vanilla and melon.
Tasting notes: Powerful due to the high alcohol, but with a characteristic lowland elegance and notes of honeysuckle, stone fruit, vanilla and white pepper.
Serving suggestion: Enjoy it neat, but feel free to try with a few drops of water.
Thick whispers of rich smoke, etched with bright herbs and juicy plums, for an indelible finish.
Finished in Don Julio Añejo tequila barrels.
Thick wisps of aromatic herbal smoke honor the ancient art of tattooing, clouds slowly dispersing in whispers of stories. The sweet scent of ripe plums lingers as smoky black ink etches an outline of famous past generations rising to legendary heights. Each artwork is a map of historical victories, imprinted on a living canvas.
Inspired by the spirit of intensity and pride that shines through more than 200 years of Lagavulin history, our malt master explores the famous symbols of the ancient Mesoamerican tattoo art, rich in history and meaning. Finished in Don Julio Añejo tequila casks, the whiskey pulses with ancient and modern herbal flavors, engraving an indelible story.
Among fierce flashes of gold, fresh notes of sea air, citrus and ripe berries mingle with intense herbal smoke in an enchanted swirl of intoxicating aromas, while the creamy-smooth and robust texture plays the perfect canvas for a rich palette of swirling flavors. Sweet with juicy plums and a touch of salt, then increasingly herbal and smoky, the flavors etch their impression in depth for a lip-tingling whiskey of legend.
Tasting notes
Nose
A soft and surprisingly direct nose with slightly floral grassiness. As it opens, an immediate citrus note of fresh orange juice edges towards apple juice, soon accompanied by suggestions of flaked almonds and light vanilla. More meadow-grass aromas develop the floral theme. The vanilla note is enhanced slightly with a drop of water and nestles among sweet meadow scents.
Palate
Soft pleasant in texture and airy taste; first slightly sweet, then develop a citrus acidity. Fruitier then, with a lovely unexpectedly rich and round style, while becoming slightly drying, with a lively oaky spiciness. Appetizing and easy to enjoy straight and with water, which softens the spiciness and brings back the original sweetness.
Exit
Of medium length and rich in character, finishing dry and spicy. A splash of water controls the spiciness nicely.
