Fujimi 7 Virtues of the Samurai is a blended whiskey from Japan – as you probably guessed from the name and the label! As it is a blended whisky, it contains distillates from several distilleries, both grain and malt, and probably both from Scotland and Japan. In any case, the recipe is perfectly hit: in the mouth the whiskey is fresh, clean and soft, with fine, bright fruit and mild spices.
Colour: Light golden.
Aroma: Fruity notes of apple, pear, banana and the well-known vanilla note from bourbon casks.
Tasting notes: Light to medium-bodied in the mouth, again with fine notes of vanilla, ginger, pepper and apple fruit with a short aftertaste.
Serving suggestions: Enjoy it neat or in cocktails – try it in a Highball, for example.
70 cl. – 40%
Matsui Shuzo has been making shochu since 1910! They only got the license for whiskey production in 2015, in the wake of a huge whiskey boom in Japan, and in 2018 Matsui got another license for a distillery in Baba, Tottori.
In the 2020 edition of Jim Murray’s “Whisky Bible”, The Matsui Mizunara Cask was named Japanese Single Malt of the Year!
