Domaine Adrien Besson Chablis 1er Cru Mont de Milieu 75 CL

Grand Vin de Bourgogne 2020 – France

100% Chardonnay

Domaine Besson is a small, family-owned house, where the 4th generation today cultivates 21 hectares of chardonnay. They are part of the association Vignerons Independant, which in short means that the vintner is in charge of everything from field care to vinification, bottling and sales. In other words, the closest you’ll get to a guarantee of personal, passionate, handcrafted wines.

The style is straight and fresh and without oxidative aromas, as both fermentation and aging mainly takes place in stainless steel with 18 months on the lees, while only a small proportion ages in old barriques.

The grapes for this wine come from vines standing on the 1st Cru Mont de Milieu, a large but well-described field located on the east side of Serein with south-southeast exposure on a soil of clayey limestone and limestone pebbles. Mont de Milieu is known for chablis with precision and pronounced minerality.

In a crisp wine with light body but lovely intensity, aromas and flavors show slim citrus fruit, pickled lemon, beeswax, green apples and complex aromas from the wine’s association with the finger yeast. Chalky minerals as well as firm acidity make for a focused wine for Chablis enthusiasts who like a tight, chiseled version of Chardonnay.
