Cu Dhub – The Black Blended Malt Scotch Whiskey Batch 1

Cú Dhub is made to memory of a legend from The Forest of Gaick. A Hiking History of the Scottish Highlands,
As the harsh bulkies like and proudly tell, even for children!
The legend of Laggans witch, who had a heart, as black as Cú Dhub Whiskey, is about a wife who was seduced by the devil itself. She lived a double life like wife and Laggans witch, without anyone knew it. As a witch, she had many good men’s death on his conscience – one of them was the noble Macgillichallum from Razay.

The legend tells that the same night, as Macgillichallum is killed, his friend in his cabin in Gaick’s at the front with his two black dogs. The witch is also intended to kill the friend. She comes to the cottage in the form of a cat that seems to need shelter. At the fire, the cat begins to take the shape of the witch and an appearance that the friend recognizes as the wife from Laggan. Had it not been for the two black dogs, the plan would probably succeed. The dogs fight against the witch that flee with the dogs behind them. They come far in long back to the cottage, bleeding and exhausted of the match.

The friend goes to Laggan’s house, where he sees all neighbors awake over the wife of her deathbed. He knows that the wife and witch are the same person and reveals her by removing the quilt that hides the wounds from the dogs. She admits before she dies in pain.

At the same time, a traveler is on the way home through the forest. He meets a desperate woman in black that is on the way to the cemetery in Dalarossie. Later, two black dogs run past him, and shortly after he meets a black rider on a black horse asking if he has seen a woman in black, as well as two black dogs. The traveler answers and continues on his way. Before he reaches home, he meets once again the black rider. Now with the woman in black, hanging on his saddle arc with one dog biting in the thigh and the other in the chest. The black rider tells how he caught the woman right before she reached the cemetery.
The traveler later belongs to the wife’s fate and understands that the woman, he met in the forest, was actually her witchesess who tried to save himself from evil by penetrating to the cemetery in Dalarossie – a place so sacred that a witch immediately Released from her tape to the devil itself, just she comes in there. But unfortunately or fortunately, the wife came too late and was picked up home by the devil itself.
