Really good and rich bottling, from a submitted but excellent distillery
Nose: Caol Ila-typical, fresh smoke, slightly played around by citrus notes, hit the nose immediately. A deep sweetness spread behind the smoke. There are also red gooseberry, cherry candy, pie chocolate
Taste: powerful start that I didn’t have
expected. Caol Ila shows his youth there, matches the intense drying on the tongue. This also shows the dish’s class because it all is quite dark, chocolate-like and not to the sweet side. I find burnt toast, again cherry candy, orange notes, wet stone and black pepper. Everything is surrounded by a note of Umami. Really fantastic!
Finish: Medium to long
long. Dark chocolate, orange peel and persistent drying.
