The Australians, with their likeable, straightforward style, are able to come up with picturesque names that, in an unpretentious way, express the winemaker’s personality, but indeed also the wine’s.
Busby’s Mate is precisely a wine that appeals widely through its full, charming style combined with a resilient fruit. With this spot shot of a wine, you get a complex smell and taste experience, where the freshness is preserved, so that the taste buds do not tire after the first glass. It simply tastes of what we like; one more glass!
The grapes are sourced from various regions in south-western Australia. The majority of the wine is made up of Ruby Cabernet, with a supplement of Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot, which helps to ensure balance and complexity. Well-dosed cask aging rounds off the wine and offers slightly roasted nuances in a wine that otherwise offers forest berries, cranberries, strawberries and a wonderfully spicy element of pine and camphor. The taste is rich with balanced texture and a perfectly rounded finish.
Busby’s Mate is an excellent and affordable all-round wine that can be nicely served with a red steak and other things in the same weight class, but due to its rounded character, this is also an excellent ‘slurping wine’.
Enjoy now and for the next few years, served slightly below room temperature at approx. 16-18°.
